Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Pinmyreel (“we”, “us”) collects, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. It follows India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and, for visitors outside India, the principles of the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act.
1. Who is responsible
Pinmyreel, a sole proprietorship, Pune, Maharashtra, India, runs Pinmyreel at pinmyreel.com. For the DPDP Act we are the “Data Fiduciary”. Contact: support@pinmyreel.com.
2. What we collect
When you sign in
We use Sign in with Google. We receive your name, email address, profile photo link and a Google account identifier. We never see your Google password.
What you do in the app
- The Instagram links you submit, and the lists and saved places you create.
- Your token balance and token history.
Public Reel content we process
To find places, we read the public caption, author handle, location tag, video frames and voiceover of the Reel you submit. We store the result (the places found and the caption text). The saved result is shared with anyone who maps the same Reel. We do not show who submitted a Reel.
Payments
Payments are handled by Razorpay. We receive an order number, payment number, amount, status and time. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
Technical data
- Your IP address and browser details, in server logs and for abuse limits (for example, a cap on Reels per hour).
- A cookie that remembers you confirmed you are 18 or older, and a sign-in cookie, and on the Map page an optional approximate location label kept only in your browser. See the Cookie Notice.
- If you tap “Use my location”, your browser shares your position with the page to draw your marker. It is not sent to our servers.
We do not run advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your data.
3. Why we use it
- To run your account, find places, save your lists and show them on a map.
- To take payments, issue tokens and keep financial records.
- To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To answer your requests and meet legal obligations.
Our legal grounds are your consent (you give it when you confirm you are 18 or older and agree to the Terms the first time you visit, and again when you sign in), our need to provide the service you asked for, our legal obligations, and our legitimate interest in security. You may withdraw consent at any time (see section 8).
4. Who we share it with
We use these service providers (“processors”) and share only what each needs:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Sign-In, Places) | Sign-in, and checking that a place exists | Your Google account details at sign-in; place names and the city, to check a match |
| Google (Gemini API) | AI that identifies places in a Reel | Selected video frames, the public caption and voiceover text |
| Groq | Converts a Reel’s voiceover to text | The Reel’s audio |
| OCR.space | Reads text shown in video frames | Video frames (images) |
| Razorpay | Payments | Your email and payment details, which you enter on Razorpay’s own window |
| OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim, Photon, Overpass) | Find where a place is, for the map pin | Place name, neighbourhood and city |
| OpenFreeMap | Draws the map | Your browser asks it for map tiles, so it sees your IP address and the area you view |
| Domain India (App Platform) | Hosting and database | All data described above |
| Instagram (Meta) | Source of public Reels | We request the public page you linked |
The Reel content sent to AI, speech and text-reading providers is public content. We choose plans that do not use our data to train their models where the provider offers that option. We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect our rights.
5. Data leaving India
Some providers above process data outside India, for example in the United States or Europe. By using Pinmyreel you understand your data may be transferred there. We transfer data only to providers we have chosen for their security practices, and only as far as the DPDP Act permits.
6. How long we keep it
- Account, lists and saved places: until you delete your account.
- Payment and token records: for as long as tax, accounting and consumer law require, even after account deletion.
- Public Reel results: kept so the Reel does not need processing again; they contain no information about you.
- Server logs: a limited period, for security.
- Google location data: exact coordinates from Google are kept for no more than 30 days, as Google’s terms require.
7. Security
Sign-in cookies are protected and sent over HTTPS only. Payments never touch our systems. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you may: get a summary of the personal data we hold and how we use it; ask us to correct or complete it; ask us to erase it; withdraw your consent; get your grievance addressed; and nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or cannot act. Visitors in the EU/UK and California have similar rights, including access, portability and objection, and we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as the CCPA defines those words.
To use a right, or to delete your account, email support@pinmyreel.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days. Withdrawing consent or deleting your account means we can no longer provide the service to you.
9. Children
Pinmyreel is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we will delete the account.
10. Grievances and complaints

11. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
